Breast Cancer Prevention

L.A. Care Health Plan

Project Details

L.A. Care Health Plan wanted to improved breast cancer prevention through screenings. We conducted a series of focus groups with women ages 50-74 who have not had a mammogram in the past two years to understand the factors that influence a woman’s decision to receive mammograms. Through the focus groups we explored internal perceptions, external influencers, barriers and motivators of the audience and what messages might resonate best to create the needed behavior change.

Outcome

Results from the study will be used to refine messaging and outreach to L.A. Care members to help improve breast cancer screening rates.
