I-8 Corridor Strategic Plan

Caltrans

Project Details

California Department of Transportation, Imperial Valley Association of Governments (IVAG,) and the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG): I-8 Corridor Study. As part of a larger effort to plan for continued growth in the Southern California region, state and local planning and transportation agencies partnered to conduct the Interstate 8 (I-8) Corridor Strategic Plan. The Strategic Plan was designed to address existing and projected challenges and to develop interregional strategies in areas such as transportation, housing, and jobs. To inform the strategic planning process, Public Values was contracted by PMC to conduct two public opinion surveys. The first study, a survey of Imperial County residents, was conducted using traditional telephone interviewing methods and was designed to address: (1) perceived quality of life in Imperial County; (2) current commute patterns; (3) future commute patterns; and, (4) nonwork-related travel. The second study, an automated telephone or IVR survey, specifically targeted users of the I-8, the primary corridor linking Imperial and San Diego Counties.
