Check Before You Burn

South Coast AQMD

Project Details

The South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD)’s mission is to improve local air quality. The purpose of the Check Before You Burn campaign is to increase awareness and compliance with No Burn Days – when residents are asked not to burn wood due to poor air quality. We conducted a two-phase research study to inform the Check Before You Burn outreach campaign.

Outcome

Results from the research were used to help identify the most effective messages for motivating residents to change their behavior, and to track changes in perceptions and awareness over time.
