Cancer Awareness

Lance Armstrong Foundation

Project Details

To increase awareness and use of cancer resources among the Latinos, the Lance Armstrong Foundation (LIVESTRONG) contracted with Public Values to conduct a public opinion survey with self-identified Latinos in selected communities across the U.S. The purpose of the research was to learn more about the cancer-related needs of Latinos, where and how they access health-related information, and to identify barriers that prevent many Latinos from utilizing available cancer resources.

Outcome

Survey results were used to: (1) inform public outreach strategies to the Latino community; and (2) measure the effectiveness of the campaign in increasing awareness of LIVESTRONG as a cancer resource and dispelling misconceptions about the disease. Study results served as a baseline for tracking changes in awareness over time.
